Permanent makeup does not always age the way it was meant to. Pigment can drift warm and turn orange, or cool and turn grey. A shape that suited a face ten years ago can sit too high or too heavy now. And some of it was simply not very good on the day it was done.
Saline removal lifts pigment out of the skin over a series of appointments. It is slow by design. Anyone offering to clear old work in one sitting is either overstating it or taking a risk with your skin.
Sometimes removal is not the answer at all. If the colour is close enough to correct, reworking it can get you further than trying to take it all out. Rai will tell you which of the two she thinks you need.
The honest position
Removal is the treatment where expectations most often need managing.
- It takes several sessions
- Pigment lifts gradually, with healing time between appointments. How many depends on how much is in the skin, how deep it went and what it was made of.
- Complete removal is not promised
- Some pigment lifts cleanly. Some fades to a point and stops. Rai will tell you what she thinks is achievable rather than what you would like to hear.
- Send a photograph first
- In daylight, without makeup, ideally close up. It is the fastest way to find out whether you are looking at removal, a correction, or leaving it alone.
- Saline removal
- Pigment is lifted out using a saline solution rather than a laser. Different pigments behave differently, and Rai will talk you through what she expects before anything starts.
- New work comes afterwards
- If the plan is to remove and then redo, the skin needs to heal fully in between. That is not a delay, it is the part that makes the second attempt work.
- Training
- Rai has trained in permanent makeup removal techniques with ECURI Cosmetics, as well as in the work being removed.
- Patch test
- Needed at least 24 hours beforehand, as with any first-time treatment.

Common questions
Can you remove work that somebody else did?
Yes, and most of what Rai removes was done elsewhere. There is nothing awkward about it and no lecture attached. Send a photograph and she will tell you what can be done with it.
Will it come out completely?
Not always, and anyone promising otherwise is guessing. Some pigment lifts cleanly and some reaches a point and stops. What is realistic depends on what is in your skin, and that is why the photograph comes first.
How long between sessions?
The skin needs to heal properly before the next one, so this is measured in weeks rather than days. Rai will set the intervals based on how yours responds rather than to a fixed schedule.
Can I have new brows straight afterwards?
No. If the plan is to remove and then redo, the skin has to heal fully in between. Rushing that is the most common reason a second attempt goes the same way as the first.
