Areola micropigmentation in Windsor
For anyone who has had a mastectomy or reconstruction, and would like that part of it finished.
The last step, not another procedure
Areola micropigmentation is pigment worked into the skin and shaded so the area reads as having dimension rather than as a flat circle of colour. Where there is a remaining side, it is matched to that. Where both sides are being done, they are worked together so they match each other.
It is not surgery and it does not claim to be. It is the same skill as any other tattooing Rai does, applied to skin that has usually been through a great deal, which is why it takes longer and why it starts with a conversation.
Nothing is booked from this page. Message or email first, tell Rai as much or as little as you want to, and she will tell you honestly whether it is the right time and what she can do.
What to expect from the process
- A conversation first
- Not a consultation you pay for and not a booking. A message, a phone call or an email, whichever you find easiest, before anything is arranged.
- Timing is led by your surgery
- How long to leave it is a question for your surgical team, not for a tattooist. Rai will ask what they have said, and if it is too soon she will tell you to come back later rather than take the booking.
- More than one session
- Skin that has been through surgery or radiotherapy holds pigment differently, so this is worked gradually rather than finished in one go.
- No photographs on this site
- There is no gallery on this page, deliberately. If you would like to see examples of Rai's work before deciding, ask her directly.
- Privacy
- Rai works alone, so there is nobody else in the studio, no reception and no waiting area with other clients in it.
- Training
- Rai has completed a masterclass in areola and camouflage work, alongside her permanent makeup training. Certificates are on the studio wall.
- Patch test
- Still needed, at least 24 hours before, as with any first-time treatment.

Is this the same as reconstruction surgery?
No. This is pigment worked into the skin, so it changes how the area looks rather than rebuilding anything. It is often the last step after surgical reconstruction, and it is done by an artist rather than by a surgeon.
How long after surgery can it be done?
That depends on your surgery and on how the scars have settled, and it is a question for your surgical team rather than for a tattooist. Rai will ask what they have said before anything is booked, and if it is too soon she will tell you to come back later.
Can you match my other side?
Where there is a remaining side, yes, that is the starting point for both the colour and the size. Where both sides are being done, the two are worked together so they match each other rather than being finished one at a time.
Will it fade?
Yes, gradually, like any permanent makeup. Skin that has been through surgery or radiotherapy can also hold pigment differently, which is one of the things Rai will talk through with you rather than promise around.
