Lip blush is a soft wash of pigment through the lip and along the border. It sits in the skin rather than on top of it, so it reads as your own lip colour improved rather than as makeup you have put on.
Most people come for one of three reasons: colour that has faded with age, a lip line that has softened and lost its edge, or a shape that has never quite matched side to side.
The border is where most of the work happens. Defining it evens out how the lip line reads and makes a thinner lip look fuller, without adding any volume. It is pigment, not filler.
What to know before you book
Lips heal differently to brows, and it is worth knowing how before the day.
- The colour lifts
- Lips look far stronger for the first few days and then soften considerably. The shade you walk out with is not the shade you keep, and Rai works to the healed result rather than the fresh one.
- Cold sores
- If you get them, say so before you book. Lip tattooing can trigger a flare-up in anyone prone to them, and it is worth speaking to your pharmacist or GP in advance so it can be planned around.
- Existing lip work
- Filler, old lip tattooing or a scar through the border all change the approach. Send a photo on WhatsApp before booking and Rai will tell you what is possible.
- Patch test
- Needed at least 24 hours beforehand, and booked in before the lip appointment itself.

Lips lift more than brows do as they heal. A top-up between four and twelve weeks later settles the final depth, and costs £50.

Will it look like lipstick?
No. Lip blush sits in the skin rather than on top of it, so it reads as your own lip colour improved rather than as makeup. The depth is chosen with you at the appointment, and it is easier to go a shade deeper at the top-up than to lift something too strong.
How much does the colour change as it heals?
A great deal. Lips look far stronger and more saturated for the first few days, then lift considerably as they heal. The shade you leave with is not the shade you keep, and that is planned for rather than a surprise.
I get cold sores. Can I still have it done?
Tell Rai before you book. Lip tattooing can trigger a flare-up in anyone who is prone to them, so it is worth speaking to your pharmacist or GP in advance so it can be planned around rather than dealt with afterwards.
My lips are uneven. Can that be corrected?
Within reason, yes. Definition along the border can even out how the lip line reads and make a thin lip look fuller. It is pigment rather than filler, so it changes the appearance of the shape rather than the volume.
